JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this classification is to plan, administer, and direct athletic and team sports programs for adults and youth for the Rome - Floyd Parks and Recreation Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff.
• Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, budget reports, time sheets, accident reports, invoices, receipt records, check requests, program and activity reports, policies, procedures, catalogs, manuals, rules, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards, or retains as appropriate.
• Make recommendations for rule changes or program expansion.
• Plans, administers, and directs athletic programs including leagues, clinics, classes, programs, special events and facilities use; establishes and distributes schedules, including dates, times, and locations of practices, games, clinics, classes and events; administers policies with respect to scheduling, safety, and insurance; monitors and evaluates program outcomes; maintains related documentation.
• Recruits, trains, supervises, coordinates, and evaluates full time, part time, and volunteer sports staff and officials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Public Recreation, Leisure Services, Parks and Recreation Administration, or closely related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation management, sports programming; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must possess and maintain CPR certification.
