Remote Site Information

The Floyd County Remote Sites were designed as collection points for household garbage and recyclables. All sites are equipped with trash compacting units and recycle bins for paper, cardboard, cans and plastic bottles & jugs. Each site has an attendant on duty during all hours of operation. These remote sites are in operation seven days a week.

Below is the schedule for the remote solid-waste collection sites:

Floyd County operates six remote trash collection sites

Berryhill Site - Located on Berryhill Road in the western portion of Floyd County.
Cave Spring Site - Located on Kings Bridge Road, southeast of Cave Spring.
Midway Park Site - Located on Midway Park Road, which is off Wax Road, in southeast Floyd County.
Potts Road Site - Located on Potts Road in northeast Floyd County.
Shannon Remote Site - Located on Burlington Drive in northeast Floyd County in the Shannon Community.
Hatfield Site - Located on Jones Mill Road in northern Floyd County.
Walker Mountain Landfill (706-291-4512) - Located on Walker Mountain Road in east Floyd County.

Information on Yard Debris

What is yard debris?

Yard Debris: includes tree limbs, tree trunks, tree branches or cuttings, shrubs and bushes so long as they do not exceed 12 feet in length. Yard debris does NOT include: solid waste, trash or other household garbage including pine straw, grass clippings or stumps.This does not impact City residents.

How much does it cost?

  • Removal of yard debris consisting of less than three (3) cubic yards - FREE, limited to once every 90 days
  • Removal of yard debris consisting of more than three (3) cubic yards but less than 10 (ten) cubic yards - $100
  • Removal of yard debris for any load larger than 10 (ten) cubic yards - $150
  • Additional loads of any size - $150

How do I make an appointment for yard debris removal?

Residents must call the public works office at 706.236.2495 to schedule yard debris pickups. A FCPW employee will come to the house and provide an estimate of approximate cost (if any) and pick up date.

Where do I put the debris once I make the appointment?

The debris should be placed on top of the curb or ditch.
