Seeking public input; Floyd County Sheriff’s Office Recertification

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of an evaluation program to verify compliance with national standards and achieve recertification.
The program is administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). T accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the art standards in four basic areas: Policy and Procedure, Administration, Operations and Support Services.
Agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments by calling 706-314-6219 on Monday, July 24, 2017 between the hours of 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Comments will be taken by the CALEA Assessment Team.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments, in person, at a public information session Tuesday, July 25. 2017 at 6:00 pm. The session will be conducted in the Sara Hightower Library Oostanaula Room, 205 Riverside Pkwy NE, Rome, GA 30161.
Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session will be limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s Standards. A copy of the Standards are available at the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. Contact Corporal Carrie Edge 706-314-0708.
