Rome Police Department Explorers Attend Explorer Academy

Rome Police Department Explorers

The Rome Police Department Explorers attended an Explorer Academy hosted by the Alabama Law Enforcement Explorer Academy in Montevallo, Alabama.

This training and class room lecture covered various law enforcement related topics such as de-escalation training, dealing with domestic violence, crime scene processing, DUI Investigation, Team Building, Traffic Stops, and many other courses. There were a total of 57 Explorers from various agencies in attendance for this six day academy which was held at the University of Montevallo.

Under the supervision of PFC Sterling Haney and Advisor Erin Guy, the Rome Police Department had six Explorers attend the academy. The explorers were as follows:

● Madison Sloan
Madison won Second year Female Academic Award and
Placed Second for Top Gun Female.
Madison is a sophomore at Pepperell High School.

● Deborah Alvarado
Deborah is a First Year Explorer
Won Most Dedicated Explorer Award
Deborah is a senior at Rome High School

● Billy Bowden
Billy is a First Year academy attendant
Billy has finished requirements for graduation of Home Schooled Students

● Angel Rodriguez
Angel is a First Year academy attendant
Was a runner up for Most Dedicated Explorer
Angel is a senior at Coosa High School

● Alex Macias
Alex is a First Year academy attendant
Alex is a recent graduate of Rome High School & was involved
in the Criminal Justice Pathway

● Manuel Macias
Manuel is a First Year academy attendant
Manuel is a sophomore at Rome High School
