Pop Up Dog Park Planned for Sept 24

By Bryan King

Pop Up Dog ParkThe public is invited to a Pop Up Dog Park on Sunday, September 24 at Riverside Park. The City of Rome and Floyd County are collaborating to offer this day of dog park play and adoption for the community.

The idea originated from Senior Planner, Bryan King, who presented the concept to community leaders. “A Pop Up Dog Park is a great way to garner interest and show support for the proposed community dog park that is still under planning development.” City and county officials are determining the best options for managing and maintaining a dog park and can gather insights from this event.

The temporary dog park will be open from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Little dogs play on the hour; big dogs play on the half hour.

PAWS will have information about their services and will have photos of the dogs that are currently available for adoption. The PAWS adoption facility is hosting an open house from 1-5 p.m. in conjunction with this event; for those interested in adopting. The facility is located at 99 North Avenue.

Berry College Animal Science students are volunteering to support the event and will have healthy pet information.

Riverside Park is located in the Celanese neighborhood at 1 Redwood Street NE.

To enter the Pop Up Dog Park, owners must show proof of current rabies vaccination. As with all dog parks, owners are responsible for the action of their dogs and must clean up after their pets. All dogs must be on a leash until they enter the park and use of the Pop Up Dog Park is at your own risk.
