Floyd County has 1038 county-maintained roads with a total length of 733 miles, with drainage ditches or gutters and rights of way on each side. The Drainage Division consists of several crews working together to maintain drainage, keep rights of way cut, clean and maintain storm drains and ditches, leaf and brush pick-up and cut back limbs and brush from rights of way.

The goals of the division are to minimize or reduce the potential of flooding of roads and neighborhoods during periods of high water by maintenance of storm drainage, catch basins, driveway pipes, culverts and open-channel ditches.
