Mission Statement

It is our mission to enlighten, entertain, encourage, educate and spread awareness to both employees and citizens of Floyd County about "GOING GREEN" and "LIVING GREEN".

Objective

Floyd County Government is dedicated to being environmentally responsible and is proactive in promoting and facilitating the objective and mission of reducing, reusing and recycling throughout the organization and the community. There are almost always environmentally-friendly alternatives to everyday tasks and products that can reduce our impact on the environment and save money.

EMPTY TONER / PRINTER / INK CARTRIDGES

Please do not throw away your empty toner / printer / ink cartridges. Cartridge World of Rome will pick the empty cartridges up at NO COST! They will take any kind of printing cartridges.

Simply save up five or six of them and call 706-234-9465 and they will stop by your office and pick them up or you can drop them off at their store located at 315 Riverside Pkwy next door to Shane’s Rib Shack.

Make your own windshield-wiper fluid.

Next time you run out of windshield-wiper fluid, think twice before running to the store. Traditional wiper fluid, due to the main ingredient, methyl alcohol, is extremely toxic when ingested -- a danger for kids and pets. Instead, use vinegar and water to clean your windshield. Another option is a mixture of water, isopropyl alcohol, and dishwashing soap. If you're in an experimenting mood, try mixing a green cleaner you already have at home with water to see how well it works.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to Green Your Halloween
Greening Your Halloween is as easy as practicing the three "R's" of Going Green - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
  • 1 Reduce - reduce or limit the amount of money spent on Halloween food, costumes and decorations.
  • 2 Reuse - find clothes, decorations or other items that can be reused for Halloween. If you have to purchase something, make sure it can be reused from year to year.
  • 3 Recycle - look for clothes and decorations that can be recycled, or use recycled items (boxes, leaves, clippings, branches, newspaper, packing supplies, fabric and yarn) to create costumes, decorations and activities.

Did you know that for every ton of paper that is recycled, the following is saved: 7,000 gallons of water, 380 gallons of oil, 17 mature trees, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, and enough electricity to power an average house for six months.

Please join us in not throwing away our spent paper but instead help us in sending every piece of paper possible to the recycling facility!

If it can be torn it can be recycled!
