Rome Transit Department

Overview

On October 1, 1961, Rome established a City department to take over the bus operation from the Georgia Power Co. The power company gave the City all of its buses, plus any spare parts and equipment on hand. In addition, Georgia Power paid the City $300,000. The City agreed to use the money for the transportation system only.

Our service includes: Public Transportation within the City limits of Rome, Georgia, which include Main Line/Tripper Fixed Route Services, and Para-Transit Services that operates Monday - Friday.

  • Main Line Services - Provides services from 5:40 AM to 6:30 PM on a one hour headway.
  • Para-Transit Service - Curb to Curb service for the elderly and disabled, which requires submission of a Para-Transit application and approval. This service operates up to 3/4 of a mile of our Fixed Route services with the same operating hours as listed above.
  • Tripper Service - Operates during AM & PM Peak hours, which is open door to the public allowing connectivity to our Main Line Fixed Route System.
