Ann Arnold, Director
Ann has over twenty-five years experience in downtown development. She has been serving as the Director of Downtown Development for the City of Rome for ten years. She is nationally certified in Downtown Management by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington DC. She was an organizing member of the Georgia Downtown Association and its predecessor, the Georgia Main Street Association.
She was instrumental in the City of Rome receiving the National Preserve America Award and the National Great American Main Street Award. Last year, Ann became one of only three certified professionals in the State of Georgia to be recognized as a Master Georgia Downtown Development Professional.
Amanda Carter, Administrative Assistant
Amanda became the newest member of the Downtown Development team when joining in January 2012. She is a native Roman with a deep-rooted passion of her hometown's historic downtown district. Amanda is a 2003 cum laude graduate of Kennesaw State University with a business management degree. She has worked in the business field for almost a decade. She has recently received the Downtown Development Authority training certification through the Fanning Institute, Atlanta, GA. In March 2012, she completed the Main Street/Better Hometown City training at the Main Street Institute held in Woodstock, GA. Amanda plans to continue her training in downtown revitalization in order to maintain and grow a vibrant downtown to live, work and play in.
Becky Smyth, Parking Services Manager
Becky is a native Roman and a graduate of Pepperell High School. Her passion for downtown started in 1999 when she became a volunteer. She was involved with many different things from coordinating children's events during Tour De Georgia to serving on the Downtown Development Authority's Promotion and Outreach Committees. She became the Parking Services Manager for downtown in 2007. The following year she received her certification as a Nationally Certified Parking Professional from the National Parking Association. In 2010, she completed the Georgia Academy for Economic Development, as well as the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program.
