Floyd County Standard Operating Procedures

Floyd County Animal Control is in the process of adopting new Georgia Departmnet of Agriculture (herin known as "GA DOA") procedures regarding the rescue of animals by rescue groups.
 
Requirments:
  1. Must be licensed by the GA DOA to engage an rescue activitiy or paid transports, this includes out of state rescues. Additionally a rescue group must be an FCAC approved rescue by filling out and submitting the completed application listed below.
  2. Only persons authorized to accuire pets from a shelter by a licensed agency is either the license holder personally or an approved agent of the rescue. In order to become an approved agent of the rescue the license holder or other member of the rescue who is listed on the rescue's application for for the GA DOA must first complete a "Animal Shelter Agent Agreement". Additionally each foster home must be listed on the "Agency Transfer Authorization Document". Both of these forms must be suplied to bot the GA DOA as well as the releasing shelter and the licesned rescue will be required for upkeep of these forms and notifications to both the GA DOA and shelters of any changes in authorized agents of a rescue.

On this site, you will find an application and an authorized agents list that must be filled out before any rescue can take place. This form must be filled out by groups that have rescued animals from FCAC previously as well.
 
To rescue an animal you will need to provide the following information:
1.     Approved Application
2.     A copy of each rescue group’s state issued shelter license
3.     An "Animal Shelter Agreement" and an "Agency Transfer Authorization Document" 
4.  FCAC approved rescue groups must fill out and submit this form and return to FCAC by 4 p.m. Tuesday to request an animal(s) be held past the euthansia date. 
 
 
This information is required from you before your group will be able to rescue from Floyd County Animal Control. Please note that if this information is not forwarded to this department, no rescues by your group can take place. Please note that these new procedures have been put in place to protect the integrity of this department and your rescue group. While we realize the importance of animal rescues, we want to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals being rescued as well.
