Description:
This position is responsible for accepting and understanding the training, and developing the skills, necessary for the collection and analysis of samples taken throughout the wastewater treatment (WWT) processes at multiple facilities, numerous industrial sites, and other locations as required by EPD permits, to ascertain and promote the efficiency of the processes and to evaluate the environmental impact on area waters. Maintains daily laboratory records such as bench sheets, sample reports, Chain of Custody, equipment maintenance, as necessary for Quality Assurance.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of calibrate, maintain and operating laboratory, sampling and flow monitoring equipment.
Knowledge of standard laboratory principles, techniques, terminology, equipment and materials.
Knowledge of general chemistry and biology.
Skill in performing standard mathematical calculations such as ratios, unit conversions, percentages and other laboratory-related math.
Knowledge of computer hardware and software utilization.
Ability to collect, prepare and preserve samples from WasteWater Treatment plants, industries, and various other locations.
Skill in preparing written and computerized reports of the results of sample analyses and Quality Control testing.
Skill in performing Quality Control testing which will assure the validity, precision, and accuracy of laboratory data.
Skill in operating communication equipment (radio and telephone).
Skill in analyzing water samples collected from the wastewater treatment processes of multiple standard chemical, bacteriological and physical examinations.
High school diploma or GED.
The completion of or the ability to successfully complete a college level course in general chemistry.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
The ability to obtain a State of Georgia Wastewater Laboratory Analyst license for wastewater within twelve months of employment.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
